A Thing to Grasp
“Whatever choice you make, make it the right choice.” — Dee Winterton Havelock Ellis said, “It is only the great men who are truly obscene. If they had not dared to be obscene, they could never have dared to be great.” I think the word “obscene” here denotes not mere prurience or crudeness, but more generally the will to defy social expectations.

Is it 1994 all over again?
Caroline from caroline.feber.se As a teenage in the 90’s Doc Martens were the height of cool for me for years. In high school I was super jealous of all the cool grunge girls who stomped around in the black oxford version, but I had to make do with a cheap plastic imitation pair from Payless.

"Lilly": American Idol-Inspired Crocheted Earrings
My obsession with spotting yarn-y items in the media will soon be enabled by a new feature on the NaturallyCaron.com blog I’m calling, “KnitSpotting” (and of course by my regular, Movie Monday posts). When my favorite American Idol contestant of this season wore crocheted earrings for her appearance–and then was voted off after performing a very cool, but non-mainstream sounding performance of

Forum Friday: Money- and space-saving spring remodeling
Citing increased purchases of flooring and kitchen cabinets , Lowe's recently reported better-than-expected fourth-quarter earnings . Company shareholders probably welcome that news, a possible sign that home remodeling is picking up. At the same time, the American Institute of Architects' Home Design Trends Survey for the fourth quarter of 2009 noted that as kitchens are becoming smaller, homeowners are looking for more green products, and that “doing more with less space is now a key consideration.” As we've been seeing on our kitchen-remodeling and bath-remodeling discussions , some green shoots are popping up around the subject of maximizing money and space while remodeling.

Nine West ‘Geri’ clutch in orange
I think it’s rather brave of Nine West to actually call and orange bag an orange bag here, and not try to label it as ‘coral’ or anything similarly sheepish. Orange, after all, is a bit colour this season, and next, according to Marc Jacobs . It sits slightly oddly with all the neutrals and dark colours that are dominating both seasons’ collections, but somehow the contrast seems to work.

‘River Petit’ mosaic tote bag at Ascension
There comes a time when we need a bag that’s just great at doing all those traditional bag tasks, like carrying heavy stuff, keeping things protected from the elements and lightening the load on excursions. But if you want something that does all those things but looks fun and funky too, I’d have to recommend this tote from La Vie Devant Soie, which is practicality and style all rolled into one.
