Progress:: Project #3, Hand Painted Family Sign
I’ve made a little progress on Project #3, the Hand Painted Family Sign, which will hang over the upholstered back of the banquette seat.I was first inspired to make a hand painted sign when I saw this one on The Lettered Cottage a few months back.I love the lettering on the sign, as well as the configuration of the main sign with a little sign connected underneath.I knew I wanted my sign to be a

Rainbow Haze silk hobo bag
This riotously colourful bag from Anthropologie is a bit 90s second-summer-of-love, a bit hazy days on the beach and very, very now. Its shape and patterning, set off by twiggy leather strap, make it look almost like a natural floral form that could have bloomed in your wardrobe.

Hubble enhanced, open science, bogus research
These are a few of the science stories that caught my eye this past week: Hubble’s 20th anniversary treat – A stupendous image of a distant region of space, colour enhanced (of course) but amazing nevertheless. Draft White Paper – Researcher identifiers – How about a “SciID”, like OpenID or a DOI but for identifying individual researchers? A barcode tattoo would get you into conferences you'd paid for too…or maybe not… Norway: brainwashed science on TV creates storm – The Norwegians have taken science to heart Researchers “Addicted” to Bogus Internet Studies – Spurious studies published on the internet that reveal just how addicted we are to research into internet addiction reveal that internet addictions studies are addictive… Is chemistry incompatible with web 2.0

Come To Me lyrics
This might not be necessary, given the relative simplicity of the lyrics, but just in case you need them, V and I put this together. Close your eyes, close your eyes (x4) Please change your mind, please change your mind (x4) All you have to do is change your mind All you have to do is close your eyes All you have to do is change your mind And come to me You’re the one I’m dreaming, you’re the one I’m dreaming (x11) All you have to do is close your eyes And come to me Yeah all you have to do is change your mind And come to me (x4) You’re the one I’m dreaming, you’re the one I’m dreaming You’re the one I’m dreaming of tonight You’re the one I’m dreaming, you’re the one I’m dreaming (x3) You’re the one I’m dreaming of tonight You’re the one I’m dreaming, you’re the one I’m dreaming You’re the one I’m dreaming of…..

‘Fun Lady’ Has Made A Career Of Keeping Passion Alive
The Commercial Appeal : Known as “The Fun Lady,” C J Haynes recalls when her clients would ask her to park out of sight from neighbors and pretend not to know them when crossing paths in public. As one of the first women in Memphis to peddle adult novelty products, Haynes has been selling lotions, lingerie and bedroom toys in clients’ homes for the last 28 years

How to Check for High Blood Pressure
You may have high blood pressure and not even know it. After all, you can’t feel your blood pressure even when it is too high. That’s why it is called the silent killer. How do you know what your blood pressure is? If you get regular check-ups you probably have an idea of your BP range but it can change quickly and without warning. We recommend that everyone have access to an accurate home monitor to check for high blood pressure at home. Types of Home Blood Pressure Monitors Automatic Wrist Digital Blood Pressure Monitors – These wrist units are my preference. Movie Monday: The Lovely Bones
I finally got the chance to watch the film adaptation of Alice Sebold’s haunting novel,The Lovely Bones. I know critics raked this one over the coals but, I actually thought it was an engaging portrayal of difficult themes to translate. Here are a few of the knitted garments from the movie that help paint a picture of 1970′s American culture, as the backdrop of unspeakable tragedy.Saoirse Ronan

Uh-oh – it’s a bag with a “sole”. I honestly thought we’d seen the last of this disaster of a design concept when those hideous goth shoe bags bombed a few years ago, but here we are with a similar idea from a well-respected design collective
