 Eating My Way Through Iceland

Just when you thought you’d heard enough about Iceland this year, I’m here to tell you another tale. Fortunately this one does not involve volcanoes or cancelled flights. This past December, I traveled to the North Atlantic nation for four days of exploration.  Before leaving for my trip I spent time reading all about the country- the diverse geology, the culture, the places to visit, Icelandic curse words, but nothing was as interesting as the food.

“In celebration of the release of the deluxe remaster of The Cure’s ‘Disintegration’, I’ll be playing a few songs featured on there and the online disc ‘Alternative Rarities 1988-1989′ during my show tonight on 91.3 WBNY in Buffalo, NY, which normally runs from 11pm-1am ET on Friday nights, but will go an extra hour tonight to accommodate those tracks. I’ll be playing one each hour, in addition to other good music which you may enjoy, so listen in if you can either on the radio, or online . I’ll be recording the show and posting it online shortly thereafter, so if you can’t hear it live, you can listen later.

 Bon Bon Buddies Acquires Kshocolat

There are great chocolates and there are fun chocolates.  Both are successful when they recognize what they are after from the get-go, and d0n’t filly fally around trying to be something they’re not.  Kshocolat burst on the scene based almost entirely on the idea of making a package look beautiful and fun, and making the chocolate fun and, how shall we say it… “yummy.”  It is not great, not serious, not complex, not even actually all that much concerned with being chocolate at all.  At The Meadow we’ve sold Kshocolat since they burst on the scene in Scotland, importing it ourselves and hoping for the best when the giant cartons of product arrived–sometimes inexplicably at our home address.   Sadly, supply has always been a challenge, and over time we’ve had to give up even trying to get more and now our entire inventory is more or less gone (a few tubes of Strawberettes remain on the shelves, nothing more).  But now, it looks like we’ll have one of our “funnest” chocolates salvaged, and cross your fingers, perhaps on the shelves again in time for the holidays!  A Peek Inside the Temple

On May 28, a press conference was held in the South Visitors’ Center on Temple Square to unveil a new public exhibit: a cut-away scale model showing the interior architecture and layout of the Salt Lake Temple. The LDS Newsroom and Deseret News posted detailed stories with additional images; in this post I just want to toss out a few ideas for discussion. First, why didn’t someone think of this thirty years ago?

I don’t know about you, but it isn’t every weekend that I can say I sang my heart out to “Hey, Mickey” and “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” at an 80’s Prom Show revival, learned how to make a healthy smoothie, and painted what some might say is pretty decent landscape. Fortunately, because of my work at LIVE STRONG , I was able to do all of this and more last weekend in Boston, MA with an amazing group of young adult cancer survivors at a LIVE STRONG -Planet Cancer Retreat.
