Foodista Q & A
We have a giant brainstorm session happening here at Foodista and I couldn’t be more excited for all the new features we are working on for 2010! We just launched our latest feature called Q&A and it’s already my new favorite thing. With Q & A, I can ask the Foodista community a cooking question and anyone can answer it. For example, if I ask the best way to cook a pizza, I may get a response back from a chef, a home cook or even a culinary student. The greatest thing about cooking is that you never stop learning no matter how much experience you have.

The Bobcat of Happiness
Coming down out of the hills this afternoon I was asked by a man and woman sitting on a park bench if they could see a picture of the bobcat I’d been photographing. I don’t normally view my pictures on the tiny screen on the back of my camera, but I would have been embarrassed to be unable to figure out how to do it for the couple. I turned on the camera and got the last image to appear.

A Sneak Peek Of My Office (Because I’m Not Just About Kitchens!)
At times I think to myself…I would love to know what it’s like to have the type of personality where I start a project, and then FINISH the project, before moving on to the next project. Unfortunately, that’s just not me. I’ve never been that way, and I don’t foresee a personality change in the near future

Alcoholic drug discovery truths
As with much of medical science, the appearance of a fascinating research paper and an accompanying press release do not usually mean that a new pharmaceutical intervention, a medicine, is ready to be prescribed to patients on the very day that the paper appears.

What is the Egyptian goatee called?
Answer from WikiAnswer.com “In death, the kings were frequently portrayed wearing the divine Osird form of the beard, which was a long, narrow beard of several strands plaited like a pigtail with the end jutting forward, as on the gold mask of Tutankhamun. Even deceased non-royal men were shown with short, tuft-like beards. However, this is not a clear cut indication, for the dead king was not always presented with this type of beard

My Color Palette & A New Wall Color (Feel Free To Weigh In!)
This week, I’ve had a few people suggest that I choose a new wall color, such as apple green, and it occurred to me…I don’t think I’ve ever really shown y’all the direction I’m going with the whole color palette in my living room/dining area/kitchen. Perhaps if I showed you that, then you would understand why I will NOT be painting my walls apple green or any other color. Yellow is the

Steampunk Avionics
Here’s a good looking bag that might appeal to steampunks and non-steampunks alike. The logo is cool, the bag looks heavy duty and, if you so desire, for a little extra you can add in the gas mask shown in the photo

BloggersUnite for Haiti: Cash Needed For Relief Efforts
From what I’ve read throughout the day cash is desperately needed by the aid organizations heading up relief efforts in Haiti after the devastating earthquake that rocked the small island nation. This cash will be used for everything from medical supplies to food. I found a list of reputable organizations that are taking donations on a Fox news site: -The Red Cross is asking the public to make financial donations to the International Relief Fund by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or online at http://www.redcross.org -Donors may also text “HAITI” to “90999″ and a donation of $10 will be given to the American Red Cross to help with relief efforts

ONCE UPON A TIME … (about labdanum).
In prehistoric (neoli thic) North Africa there lived, amongst man y peoples, a tribe of nomadic goat-herders. Occasionally, these people noticed that their goats acquired a blackish, sticky substance on their fleeces and eventually they realised that if this substance were removed and burned, it pr ovided a very fragrant smoke. As a brief aside it is worth mentioning that the use of aromatic materials as incense is the origin of perfumery and of aromatherapy
