Five Ways to Document a Death
By Gena Philibert Ortega So much of what we do as genealogists is about finding and confirming the milestones of our ancestor’s lives. Finding dates and places for a birth, marriage and death seems at the onset to be an easy task, but sometimes that can be a task that takes years. We sometimes get caught in a rut thinking that the only way to verify an event is by the use of one type of document, when in reality there are several sources that provide you with the information that you need.

Custom gift baskets in the USA
www.corporategiftsboston.com One of the main gift items that we prepare are custom designed baskets, trays or hampers and even other types of containers. Our regular clients love the fact that they can e mail or call and discuss their requirements down to the color of the ribbon with us, and why not! That is true service. Quite often those one of a kind gifts get added to our website for others to purchase, a perfect example is our Elegant gourmet tray, which was created for a Fathers Day gift over 2 years ago

Board Dinosaur Train for an Under Sea Adventure While Getting Ready for School (DVD giveaway)

Nothing says summer like butterflies
Although we haven’t had much in the way of summer weather (yet! I’m still hopeful!), we have had more than our fair share of butterflies. I never get bored of them and thankfully neither do designers. I love this set of 3 white metal butterfly hooks – a great way to prettify something that’s usually boring

Women and Fitness – Gift Ideas
It is very well known that exercise and regular physical activity can help you reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. And when it comes to women (like new moms, for example), being fit can help them lose or control their weight loss. Belly Burner. photo courtesy of Taylor Gifts Here are some tips to consider when choosing gifts for your loved one: Start slow! If your loved one hasn’t done any kind of exercise in a while, they will need to start sloooow… maybe 10 minutes at a time.

A Lesson In Following Instructions (and the Difference That Dry-Brushing Can Make)
Have you ever actually read the instructions on the back of a can of spray paint? I know, I know…the writing is tiny, it’s not very interesting, and the “how to” of using a can of spray paint seems pretty elementary. But really, those directions are there for a reason.Believe it or not, I read the directions on every brand that I use, because they’re all a little different

Drug testing, solar fullerenes, chemicalization
These are my recent science picks, including my latest contributions to spectroscopyNOW.com Drug testing – A simple analytical approach to identifying drugs of abuse would be a boon to forensic scientists and law enforcement agencies. A collaboration between researchers in the US and Europe demonstrates how an assessment of different methods using chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry reveals that multivariate selectivity can take into account the degree of resolution between nominally unresolved peaks due to the presence of various drugs in a forensic sample and so allow quicker identification. Solar fullerenes – Sheffield's David Lidzey working with Athene Donald of the University of Cambridge and experts from Cardiff University and Nick Terrill at the Diamond Light Source, the UK's synchrotron facility in Didcot, have investigated the structure of solar cell materials to help them improve photovoltaic efficiencies

Potrero Meadow
Potrero Meadow is on the north side of Mt. Tamalpais, a 1.5-mile hike from the parking lot at Rock Spring. When I first moved to California and lived in Santa Barbara, I was told it was funny to name a place La Cumbre Peak , since “La Cumbre” is Spanish for “peak” and you end up with a place named The Peak Peak.

Tempeh Malaikari
I am surprised I have blogged only one recipe with tempeh so far, considering that it is a staple at my house. I particularly like its meatiness in hearty curries instead of tofu. Having enjoyed tempeh rendang (loosely adapted from this recipe) often, I was looking to make an Indian curry with similar notes

Jewelry and Cats!
The title reflects the state of my life at the moment: jewelry and cats! Cluny and Cuervo are adapting to life in the city; I had almost forgotten what high-maintenance cats they are! (I wouldn’t have it any other way). Cuervo will come and sit on the floor and look up at me when I’m working; he can do this for 15 minutes without moving. If I talk to him briefly without getting up, he will start talking to me – and he’s anything but brief.
