The fabulous 40-year-old and mother of two, Jennifer Lopez, made her comeback performance at the 2009 American Music Awards recently (does that count as a comeback?) and performed her new single “Louboutins” in a Rocky Balboa-esque performance: Sticking to her usual high-energy, sharp choreography, she paid homage to the French designer by using his uber-popular brand name to drive the point home that she is leaving her lying, good for nothing man- and she is throwing on her Louboutin’s to do so. No copyright infringement over here, though! The famed guru of shoes granted her permission to use his name, even taught her how to pronounce it properly! As far as the end result of the record, he loves it! Jennifer told me about the song back in January, and I was extremely flattered,” recalled the French shoe guru.

I buy organic eggs, French butter, Marcona almonds. And yet, without giving it a second thought, I’ve always used Hershey’s cocoa powder from the grocery store in any recipe requiring cocoa powder. It’s never caused a noticeable problem – everything’s turned out properly chocolaty and sweet. And then one day, armed with a chocolate biscotti recipe, I saw a container of Valrhona cocoa powder on a shelf of my favorite specialty food store. I considered how much more a bar of Valrhona chocolate was than a bar of Hershey’s, and suddenly began to question my cocoa powder tradition. I went ahead and splurged ($14 for 8.8 oz)

As an obsessive bargain shopper (I rarely go a week without at least stepping foot into a Forever 21), I’ve developed a pretty keen eye for spotting designer look-alikes for less , not only at super-cheap stores that are known for popping out runway replicas, but on the racks of mid-range contemporary stores like Bebe too! For example, this Knit Bustier Full Zip Dress at Bebe touts a reasonable $89 price tag, but in comparison to its designer twinzie, this Lisa Marie Fernandez “Leigh” Dress ($425), it’s a total steal! True, LMF’s is a little more structurally body-con with its neoprene fabric, but quite frankly I think Bebe’s is more flattering with its banded detail and breathable fabric (not to mention more forgiving after a batch of holiday cookies)!
