Congratulations to Becky who won a lifetime membership to FamZoo! Right now our 6 and almost 4 year old hoard their money in their little nylon wallets, eager to stuff in more but I know that the day of spending will arrive with no end in sight. Rather than appearing like a bottomless pit of money to our two children, we want to begin conveying the value of a dollar and how hard it can be to work for the things they want rather than what they need. Thank goodness for FamZoo ! About FamZoo FamZoo is a family friendly site that allows children to learn about the value of money through a virtual bank account that is tied to real money

Barely stopping to catch her breath after a sizzling Argentine tango on Dancing With The Stars ( DWTS ), Pamela Anderson—accompanied by her dance partner, Damian Whitewood—headed to the Canadian Consulate in Los Angeles today to hand-deliver her letter to Gary Doer , the Canadian ambassador to the U.S., detailing her concern that the Canadian government is subsidizing the seal slaughter . Pamela has taken her fight for seals from one end of Canada to the other , but her personal appearance at the consulate is her first action in the U.S.

title pic Prom-Dress Largesse

That old prom dress you have hanging in the back of your closet is great for nostalgia, but do you really need to keep it forever? Consider donating your gently used formal wear to an organization like the Princess Project or Becca's Closet that will recycle it by putting it in the hands of a young woman who can't afford her dream gown. Dozens of programs across the country specialize in providing free dresses to high school girls to wear to their proms, formals, and graduation events.

Officials are scrambling to contain the beyond-massive oil spill that’s headed for the Gulf Coast and its wetlands and wildlife areas. At times like this, I know it’s popular to blame big business, and that’s fair enough.

title pic Tip of the Day: Use fresh gas in your outdoor power gear

You can do nearly everything right for your mower, string trimmer, and other lawn equipment and still run into trouble. That’s what happened with my self-propelled gas mower the other day when I tried to mow in a hurry before dinner. I know I didn’t do everything the mower needed to be in tip-top shape—no grease yet for the wheel axles, for instance.

PETA’s Bea Arthur Dog Park (named for the eternally fabulous Golden Girl ) has everything that dogs love: a big, grassy lawn for rolling and romping, a bin filled with toys to chew and chase, a water station, and an easy-access ramp into the Elizabeth River for dog-paddling to their hearts’ content! But it’s not just dogs who love PETA’s park—apparently, Southern Living does too: The magazine included the park in its feature on the South’s best dog parks ! Let’s raise the woof in celebration by taking our canine companions to the nearest dog park tonight for some tail-wagging fun! And if you’re ever in Norfolk, Virginia, check out the Bea Arthur Dog Park: I guarantee that if you follow the rules, you and your mutt won’t be disappointed. Posted by Lindsay Pollard-Post
