He riffed on toilets during his keynote address at the 2010 International Builders' Show in Las Vegas , and his Web site shows him wielding a sledgehammer over a busted-up toilet next to the quote, “If you leave this web site, I will kill this defenseless toilet.” Most recently, the Pulitzer Prize winner commented on commodes in ” Domains: Dave Barry's Fun House ” in last week's edition of the The New York Times Magazine .

Michael Kovac/FilmMagic Six months into her “easy” pregnancy, Kaitlin Olson is crossing her fingers that the luck lasts through to her August due date . “I haven’t been nauseous at all, so far — I hate to jinx it,” she told PEOPLE Moms & Babies at Sunday’s Pregnancy Awareness Month kickoff event. “I feel pretty normal except I can feel something moving inside of me.” The Always Sunny in Philadelphia star and her husband, series creator Rob McElhenney , recently discovered that they’re expecting a boy — and the couple is thrilled with the news.

PETA supporter Mimi wasn’t on the agenda—or even the guest list—for the International Wool Textile Organisation’s recent conference in France, but when an Australian farming representative started to tell attendees that the barbaric practice of lamb mulesing is necessary, she became the featured speaker. Mimi borrowed the microphone to inform the crowd that mulesing is a fiercely cruel practice in which farmers cut flesh from lambs’ hindquarters with a pair of gardening shears (without using painkillers), even though alternatives exist . So much for trying to pull the wool over people’s eyes! Of course, you don’t need to snag a microphone to voice your opposition to mulesing.

Vera Farmiga Confirms: Baby No. 2 on the Way!

The Oscar-nominated Up In the Air star, 36, is expecting a second child with her husband, Deadsy rocker Renn Hawkey , this fall. “I’m past the first trimester, so I’m not feeling sick anymore,” Farmiga — wearing Sophie Theallet for Gap — told USA Today at the event, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The new arrival will join big brother Fynn , 15 months.

Latest science news with a spectral twist from my column on SpectroscopyNOW.com and more… X-ray fuel – X-ray absorption spectroscopy, XAS, has been used to probe the metal centre of an important enzyme that can oxidise methane, natural gas, to methanol. Turns out the metal is copper not iron as previously thought and the discovery could open up a route to novel catalysts for converting “waste” methane (either from landfill or oil well flare-off) into useful liquid methanol for processing into fuel or other more valuable products.
