The $5 billion “ cash for caulkers ” program, which would give rebates to homeowners who make their residences more energy efficient, was initially going to be part of the small business legislation that’s before the Senate this week. When that deal came undone, we heard whispers in Washington that HomeStar might not make it at all

Really, no outfit is complete without the perfect bag. Foley + Corinna has created a bag that is both lust-worthy and practical. This Grand Street Disco City Bag is super sleek! It’s perfect for a city gal who doesn’t have time to mess around! I love the criss-crossed straps down the front of the bag; it’s tastefully done so as to avoid looking tacky and overwhelming.

title pic Label Love: Sex-Kitten Stilettos From Pour La Victoire

I’m not exactly sure who this ‘La Victoire’ is, but she is one lucky girl. French shoe label, Pour La Victoire , by shoe designer David Giordano, features a selection of pumps, wedges, boots and other stiletto-ed beauties (and a few flats) that can only be described as burlesque beauty meets daring diva

title pic Percy Jackson & the Olympians Delights Readers & Viewers (giveaway)

The Percy Jackson series was a huge hit among the 5th graders at my school this year and left them wanting to know more about Greek gods and goddesses. It was absolutely amazing that they chose to research topics like Pandora, Aphrodite, Zeus, Kronos, and Artemis for their independent research topics

title pic Lacy Looks For Summer!

While many of our favorite lace garments belong in our drawer of un-mentionables , the look of lace in your everyday outfits has a lingerie-like lust effect on the on-lookers. The see-thru floral ringlet design is perfect for a summery look and feel, as the whole idea around lace as a fabric is for it to be light and airy. The best part — a little flash of lace can go a long way

President Obama marked the twentieth anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act yesterday with a special ceremony on the White House South Lawn. “Not dependence—but independence. It’s not quite Apple sending bumper cases to buyers of the new iPhone 4, but the Whirlpool Corporation’s distribution agreement with B Green Innovations, manufacturer of the Vibe Away anti-vibration pads, suggests that the issue of shimmying front-loaders isn’t going away anytime soon. title pic Seventh Generation strikes deal with the devil, er, Walmart

The temperature must be dropping in Hades—at least according to the forecasting of Seventh Generation co-founder Jeffrey Hollender. For years, Hollender maintained that “hell would freeze over” before his company’s eco-friendly products would be sold in Walmart. The time is nigh, according to the Wall Street Journal , which reports that Seventh Generation laundry detergent, dish soap, all-purpose sprays, and disinfectant wipes will be sold in about 1,500 Walmart stores starting next month.

The Department of Energy wants to friend you on Facebook , send you tweets , and share photos and videos on Flickr and YouTube . Secretary Steven Chu has seen the light and is spreading DOE’s message on, you guessed it, a new Energy blog . “While the act of starting a blog is hardly novel, it is a first for us and part of our commitment to achieving the level of transparency, engagement, and accessibility that you should expect from your government,” he wrote in the first post
