After a recent trip to India, Katy Perry brought back a variety of bindis and together, with celebrity makeup artist Jake Bailey , they used this as inspiration to create a “Bettie age, Indian princess look” for last night’s Grammy Awards . title pic Genius! Cool It Caddy

One of my earliest memories as a little girl was what I now fondly refer to as the “Crayon Disaster of 1982.” It was  a steamy August day and my mother inadvertently left my 24 pack of Crayolas on the dashboard during a trip to the beach. You can imagine the multi-colored mess of wax that we discovered after our day of fun in the sun

title pic Drew Barrymore at the 2010 Golden Globes

Drew Barrymore seemed to be a fashionista’s favorite last night in Atelier Versace .  Her makeup was subtle and really let the dress take center stage. Makeup artist Debra Ferullo for Cover Girl (Drew is among the faces for the brand) used warm-tones for a natural, soft look.

Last year, I had the amazing opportunity to meet Michael Kors at the Very Hollywood fragrance launch.  Not only was he charming and funny, the glamorous white floral was also one of my favorite scents of 2009.

You may not be able to get Jennifer Lopez ’s signature curves and you may not want the unsightly bodysuit that she wore on New Year’s Eve, but you can get her sexy makeup look, created by her long-time makeup artist and friend Scott Barnes . “The key to this look is rimming the inside of the eyes with a charcoal pencil,” says Barnes, who loves Maybelline’s Expert Eyes liners.

title pic RIP Rock & Republic Cosmetics

I’m not normally one for gossip…but I’ve heard a bit of unexpected bad news from two reliable beauty sources in the past few weeks and I thought I’d share. Remember when we talked about Rock & Republic ’s luxe new line of cosmetics here and here last year? Well, apparently the line’s high pricepoint hasn’t hit the mark with consumers in the past year and it’s already being discontinued.

title pic Beauty Products You Swear By

Just had a few DMs with the lovely Adriana Lukas about which beauty products/regimes we swear by, and those we are interested in trying. I sent her links to products I've written about previously here , the Kiehl's Tinted Moisturizer my daughter and I use daily, she such a fan she once said, “I believe I am going to use this for the rest of my life,” and I believe her, and will, as well.

That said, if palettes aren’t your ‘thang,’ tarte has two other gift sets, including  crown jewels ($39), a lipgloss multi-gift set that’s essentially three gifts in one (one for you, perhaps?)  and three carats ($25), a limited edition mini cheek stain set with three brand new, limited edition shades: brilliant (shimmering champagne), princess (shimmering rose) and cushion (shimmering deep apricot).

title pic Should I Cut My Hair? You Decide

While I am not endowed with her other attributes, I do have about the same hair (texture, color, curliness) as Sophia Loren. A few months ago, I was looking at images of her and was taken by a short cut she had, the photo of which I sent to my hair-cutter, saying, I might want this cut when I go to Panama in January, as I will not be taking the blow-dryer (what my daughter calls my ” ghetto hairdryer ,” to which I have essentially been harnessed since age thirteen because it nicely half-pulls out the curls)
