Free cupcakes today at Sweet Temptations
From the Albany Times-Union – again, the umpteenth reminder for bakeries (or anyone, really) – if you are going to court the press, your website should be up and running so people can get information about you. I know many of you don’t care, and this is a cupcake blog, not a business or internet blog, but still; if your potential customers have nothing to go on, no phone number, no photos, nothing but a news article, how can they check you out?

I was just showing the very nice guy at the Apple Store who was talking to me about external hard drives that we are easy to find, since we still come up #1 in a Google search on cupcakes , and discovered that Google has integrated Google news searches and Twitter searches, so this is what came up for Twitter: You can always search Twitter yourself to find out who’s talking about cupcakes this very second.

Tasting lemon, vanilla and mocha cupcakes at Dessert Club ChikaLicious
Last night I tasted cupcakes from two places, one of them being Dessert Club ChikaLicious in the East Village. I’ve tried most of the cupcakes at most New York City bakeries and while I have my favorites, am always on the lookout for something new. I found it at ChikaLicious (will just call it that for shorthand)

I pretty much love everything about this , except for the fact that it’s nowhere near me (although Washington, DC isn’t that far away!). The name, the logo, the idea, “Bringing cupcake bliss right to your door.” Great shot courtesy of jessiespress who noted, “The cupcake was tasty — very moist! The cupcake lover’s dilemma
Of course, it’s the best kind of dilemma ever. I’m gearing up for my first visit to Minneapolis in the non-summer months for the opening of Cake Eater Bakery on March 1st (I even ordered one of their fabulous t-shirts from Etsy), and hear that Michelle Garcia of The Bleeding Heart Bakery and possibly Sandy Ploy of Iron Cupcake will also be in town! Anyway, for a party I’m hosting, I’m getting custom cupcakes made from Sheela Namakkal of Miel y Leche (and Cake Eater Bakery) and went to her site and saw SO many cupcake flavors I have no idea what to choose

There's a special mailbox in downtown Sherman that I've never noticed it before but Celia tells me it's been there at least since the 1980s. She put her Santa letters in it until she turned 10! We moved here after my boys quit writing to Santa and I don't go downtown often. Each side is different…

We're giving my mom a length of fence for Christmas (we all agree that she does not need anything else to dust). We were warned that winter weather was on it's way to Oklahoma City so we knew that we had to hit the ground running when we got there. We stopped to rent an auger (to dig post holes) on the south side of the city.
