 Mardi Gras cupcakes at Louisana’s Curl’s Cupcakes

For Mardi Gras, Curl’s Cupcakes in West Monroe, Louisiana, is selling these very colorful cupcakes, via their Facebook page (yes, Facebook is this cupcake blogger’s BFF): They’re also selling Super Bowl New Orleans Saints cupcakes, but I didn’t see any photos of those, though apparently they are selling quite well. From the Albany Times-Union – again, the umpteenth reminder for bakeries (or anyone, really) – if you are going to court the press, your website should be up and running so people can get information about you. I know many of you don’t care, and this is a cupcake blog, not a business or internet blog, but still; if your potential customers have nothing to go on, no phone number, no photos, nothing but a news article, how can they check you out?

I was just showing the very nice guy at the Apple Store who was talking to me about external hard drives that we are easy to find, since we still come up #1 in a Google search on cupcakes , and discovered that Google has integrated Google news searches and Twitter searches, so this is what came up for Twitter: You can always search Twitter yourself to find out who’s talking about cupcakes this very second.

Last night I tasted cupcakes from two places, one of them being Dessert Club ChikaLicious in the East Village. I’ve tried most of the cupcakes at most New York City bakeries and while I have my favorites, am always on the lookout for something new.  The cupcake lover’s dilemma

Of course, it’s the best kind of dilemma ever. I’m gearing up for my first visit to Minneapolis in the non-summer months for the opening of Cake Eater Bakery on March 1st (I even ordered one of their fabulous t-shirts from Etsy), and hear that Michelle Garcia of The Bleeding Heart Bakery and possibly Sandy Ploy of Iron Cupcake will also be in town! Anyway, for a party I’m hosting, I’m getting custom cupcakes made from Sheela Namakkal of Miel y Leche (and Cake Eater Bakery) and went to her site and saw SO many cupcake flavors I have no idea what to choose
