I saw this press release about New York’s famous Magnolia Bakery opening an outpost in Dubai and for a moment was like, “Is it April Fool’s Day?” Mainly because all the hype has been about their long-awaited Grand Central Station bakery (opening in late February is the latest word) and their Los Angeles outpost (opening in April). Here’s the relevant part of the release: Magnolia Bakery, renowned for its old fashioned, freshly baked desserts, today announced the grand opening of its Dubai annex, the first such location outside of the United States. Through an exclusive territorial license agreement, the new bakery, located in the Bloomingdale’s home store within The Dubai Mall, will be managed and operated by Al Tayer Insignia, the luxury retail company of Al Tayer Group.

From The Washington Examiner : Well, for now, they’re giving out the “no comment” line, but for weeks the co-founders of Georgetown Cupcake, Sophie LaMontagne and Katherine Kallinis, have been gabbing about their impending stardom while out and about in town. And with one too many bloggers picking up the dish, their secret is out of the bag: Georgetown Cupcake will be the set of a new reality television show to air on TLC.
