title pic PattyCakes mini cupcake delivery from NJ

New Jersey cupcakery PattyCakes just sent me a box of bite-size do-it-yourself cupcakes to taste, photograph and review: I don’t recall it being marked perishable , but it did arrive two days after it was mailed (a Monday to Wednesday travel schedule). First thing I noticed was the cute packaging: The packing peanuts are made out of corn starch and dissolve in water. That was a BIG plus to me, as I detest Styrofoam and the wastefulness of most packing materials

Over at The Disney Food Blog , AJ posted about these amazing-looking zebra cupcakes! It’s clearly the Disney dining equivalent of avant garde artwork — a representation of a zebra vs. an actual molded animal, as you find in the White Chocolate Elephant Cupcake, also sold at Kusafiri Bakery.

Today I’m reviving an old weekly tradition here on Half Baked. Back when I owned my cake shop in Dallas, I would feature one new cake design each week that stood out as my favorite. Even though I mainly write about cakes and parties now, I still fall in love with fabulous new cake designs, created by talented cake artists across the country.

I don’t have a Kindle myself so won’t be able to read this book until July when it becomes available in POD (print on demand) and other e-book formats, but author Jenny Gardiner has a new novel out called Slim to None . I’m told it has recipes, but am not sure if it has cupcake recipes, but I thought the cover was cute
