I was walking down 9th Avenue in the Meatpacking District in New York recently and wasn’t sure what I wanted to eat, so walked into Pop Burger and found, on the menu, an offering of two cupcakes for six dollars.

title pic Limited edition Fashion’s Night Out Snowcap cupcake at Magnolia Bakery popup shop in LA

Brand X reports that Magnolia Bakery in Los Angeles will be setting up a popup shop for Friday’s Fashion’s Night Out and selling this special, and delicious-looking cupcake! (I haven’t heard any plans for Magnolia Bakery in New York to be doing something similar.) They write (though I don’t really agree that they look like the shoes, but whatever, I would totally buy one): Fashion’s Night Out wouldn’t be the same without designer dessert. Los Angeles newcomer Magnolia Bakery will hold a pop-up shop at the Ron Herman store at Fred Segal on Melrose Avenue — just blocks from the New York-based dessert shop’s new 3rd Street outpost — on Friday, joining the Vogue-sponsored second annual shopping celebration with a special cupcake to mark the occasion

title pic Monkeys, Super Mario, Ballerina, Converse All Stars & more very fun cupcakes from Mon Petit Cupcakes

I got all these custom cupcakes from a Facebook album called “Fun Cupcakes by Mon Petit Cupcakes, which I am hereby retitling VERY fun cupcakes because, well, look at them! A-DOR-able! When you have seen many thousands of cupcakes, as I have (I could not even estimate how many cupcake photos I have looked at in the last 5+ years of this blog), it’s easy to pass some over and think, “Cute, but…” but these really wowed me because they are creative, fun, colorful and unusual. I can’t decide which are my favorites but they might be the Converse All Stars, proving once again that anything can be made in cupcake form, even someone’s favorite sneakers! Monkey cupcakes Converse All Stars cupcakes (I think these are Super Mario cupcakes) ballerina cupcake! animal cupcakes the scissors are too cute (my other contender for favorite of this set) I’ve had Mon Petit Cupcakes when I’ve traveled to Minnesota and can tell you they are quite yummy

title pic Strawberry balsamic cupcakes with strawberry and raspberry vodka frosting!

I’m working on a larger strawberry cupcake post, but these cupcakes by The Inky Kitchen (go there for the recipe and more photos) clearly deserve their own post! She writes: As I spoke about these cupcakes at work today I got a few funny looks when people heard strawberries and vinegar in the same sentence, but believe me this is a magical combo. The Italians have been doing it for ages and we all know they don’t tend to get food wrong.

title pic Highbrow cupcakes: Cupcakes and cocktails at London’s Mayfair Hotel

JustLuxe reports on London’s posh Mayfair Hotel (prices start from £20pp) offering Cupcakes and Cocktails: We ‘um’ and ‘ah’ as we pass the drinks around to try them all – as we do so, our waitress arrives with a selection of the brightest coloured cupcakes I’ve ever seen. We delve in, trying, between mouthfuls, to decide which of these sugary works of art is our favourites. I love the tangy lemon curd, but the others each decide they prefer either the divine chocolate, the creamy vanilla or the moreish coconut and strawberry
